Standing before the red sea
I have seen God part seas before,
but what about this one?
The Egyptians are closing in,
Pharaoh draws near
I know that the arm of the Lord can save,
I have seen Him deliver in times past
But will He deliver now?
Or will Pharaoh engulf me while He disciplines me?
I grumbled in Goshen
Though I trusted in God for deliverance,
I grumbled against His name
Here, before the red sea,
While I face the formidable waters before me,
And the terror of an army behind
This is the time for holiness,
For unwavering trust,
Faith that does not falter
This is the time for steadfast faith and purity of heart
As I trust in you and await a miracle -
The fulfillment of your promise
But I grumbled against you,
I wavered. I sinned.
I allowed a lie of the enemy take root in my heart for a moment.
What will happen, Lord?
Will you keep your promise?
Will I see your deliverance
Will I indeed experience double honor where shame is knocking?
Though Pharaoh’s army continues to approach,
With speed, they draw nearer,
Yet, I know I have not been drowned
I am not consumed
So I will continue to trust for a miracle -
Not knowing how, but knowing you are able
Knowing fully well that you are on my side
The God who…
…Split the red sea,
Defeated a formidable army with 300 men
Raised Lazarus after four days when the situation seemed done and hopeless
Raised Jesus from the dead after three days
Is my God
Never will you leave me,
Never will you forsake me.
